In addition to imagining unique textiles and beaded jewelry, Kim is a passionate advocate for incarcerated persons and their families. Her advocacy has involved many platforms, to include community service, grassroots organizing and the occasional op ed. Much of that effort is now is channeled into the development of a robust and sustained prison arts education program.
“We artists are indestructible; even in a prison, or in a concentration camp, I would be almighty in my own world of art, even if I had to paint my pictures with my wet tongue on the dusty floor of my cell.”
